Chantecaille Foundation Review
I’ve been using the same BareMinerals foundation for years, but decided to try something new. My skin gets a little dry during winter, and my mineral foundation made my skin look chalky. I’ve been meaning to try this Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation, but always balked at its astronomical price. Since it was my birthday, I decided to treat myself and was optimistic that this foundation would live up to it’s price point. Ever since I’ve been using it my skin looks and feels incredible. The gel formula hydrates my parched skin and gives just the right amount of coverage. Even though I use the tiniest amount of setting powder in my t-zone, my face doesn’t get overly dewy throughout the day. Here’s a quick breakdown on how I’ve been applying the Chantecaille foundation…
Pros:
- Hydrates enough to give skin that natural glow
- Buildable coverage without looking cakey
- Creamy, gel texture makes it easy to blend
- Feels lightweight on skin
Cons:
- Price point ($76)
- Foundation container makes it awkward to apply
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette
Other than having the longest name in the history of makeup products, I was excited to try this Tarte palette. I was actually at Sephora returning something when something soft and shimmering caught my eye. I was impressed by how the pigments in the highlighters were picking up the light in such a beautiful way. This highlighter is not formulated like a normal pressed powder, rather this silky, smooth texture feels creamy making it easy to apply and blend seamlessly. Here’s how I’ve been applying it…
Pros:
- Blendable
- Beautiful colors
- Long-lasting highlighter glow
- Packaging is thin, but well made so it doesn’t take up heaps of space
Cons:
- Yellow powder in the middle is so thin and sheer it doesn’t actually transfer to skin
Glossier Sheer Matte Lipstick
Since starting my new job, I wanted a lipstick that would last throughout my shift without leaving me with dry, cracked lips midway. I also wanted the lipstick color to be subtle and fade nicely throughout the day. I’ve been hearing so much about Glossier products so I thought to check them out. I ordered one of the lipsticks, Crush, and liked it so much that I ordered two more colors. I love how creamy these lipsticks are because that gives me the ability to build up the intensity of the color as much as I want. Throughout the course of the day the colors fade looking like blotted lipstick, without leaving a ring around my mouth. You know the one that makes you look like you didn’t blend in your lipliner? That doesn’t happen with these! These are the colors that I bought and now permanently live in my purse…
Pros:
- Hydrating, feels like chapstick
- Good color range
- Lasting power
- Matte sheerness makes the colors buildable
Cons:
- Feel a bit hard/dry when first applying, but warms up with more skin contact
