I have always wanted to go to Oktoberfest. Since I went to Europe for a month this past July, it wasn’t exactly in our plans to go back for Oktoberfest. So we settled for the next best thing: Alpine Village. It’s been ages since I’ve been to Alpine Village, so it was fun to go back with a group of friends. We went on a Sunday, which was much more family-friendly. I have heard it does get quite crazy on the weekends!
We grabbed ourselves some beer and pretzels, and prepared ourselves to be entertained.
Do you see that castle poster in the background? Well, I was there just a few months ago! You can read more about that here. After being in Germany and seeing Neuschwanstein Castle in person, going to an American Oktoberfest felt a little fake. Of course, drinking with friends and catching up is always enjoyable. Some day I would like to go back to Munich and experience the real thing!
With tummies full of beer and pretzel we made our way over to Alpine Market to pick up some goodies to munch on for later. The last time I had meats and cheeses like this was when I was back in Switzerland. Isn’t it neat how food can bring back fond memories?
When we got home, it was time to dominate a game of Catan! And I did in fact win. Prost!
